International Wedding trends in India

We Indians love to incorporate different cultures from across the world. Be it movies, food or even weddings, we take inspiration from many rituals and habits of people from the West.  Indian weddings specifically have changed  after the pandemic as they took a sharp turn from grandeur to minimalism. Here is where Christian white weddings proved very useful as they have always been traditionally simple.  But some of the trends may seem effortless; they do add a lot of elegance to the whole ceremony. In this blog I have listed some of the trends that are going to remain in the Indian wedding scene for a long time as they are not only simple to execute but also awe-inspiring.

Bridesmaids and Best men

This is really the best way to involve your best friends in the wedding. It does takes some load off your shoulder as you can divide certain  responsibilities among your best friends and can also have a photo shoot with them. There is no such feeling as great as getting married with your best friends standing by your side and you already know how awesome the bachelorette party would go. Make sure to make coordinated outfits for all the bridesmaids so there is a pattern that will look good in the photographs.

Long trains

All thanks to Priyanka Chopra’s christian wedding for popularizing this trend. Boy! That train was long and just looked so surreal. You can surely add the train to your traditional  lehenga attire but keep it light weight as your lehenga is already heavy. The best of the shots can be taken while you are walking down the aisle for example one of your bridesmaid adjusting the train.

Minimalism

As I already mentioned, the pandemic made it nearly impossible to have a big fat Indian wedding so many couples now opt for a minimalist theme. It’s about the quality now and not the quantity. Well if you are clueless as what you should do is  you can take inspiration from simple western weddings. For instance, the guest list is curated, decorations are preferably all white and not gaudy. Also find an al-fresco venue that is in middle of some natural beauty.

Tossing the bouquet

This is the most fun activity that will again make your loved one an integral part of the wedding. For the record, the bride throws her bouquet and who ever catches is supposed to get married next. Such rituals add fun and laughter to the event especially after heavy Indian rituals.
