Black-eyed Susan

The list begins with North America’s favorite flower, the black-eyed Susan. The flower is very popular and can be widely seen in fields and meadows. Black-eyed Susan is perennial and comes back year after year. If you are a beginner in gardening then this flower is for you. You can add it to your garden as it is hardy, drought-tolerant, and can be grown in a variety of soils.

The appearance is similar to that of a sunflower. It has orange pets with black centers. The flower symbolizes encouragement and optimism and thus can be gifted as a bouquet on some auspicious occasion.

Buttercup

This flower has options in almost every field. Whether it’s their appearance or properties, they give a lot of options in both these fields. Firstly, they can be perennial, biennial, or annual, whatever you want. Secondly, they can be herbaceous, terrestrial, or aquatic. Things don’t end here,  as they can be upright or creeping as well.

In terms of appearance, the flowers are mainly yellow but since we know it provides a lot of options, you can have them in white, pink, or red as well. The flowers are very shiny due to the presence of reflective cells in their petals. All these good things are okay, but avoid keeping them in your garden as all parts are poisonous to humans and animals.

Carnations

The most popular flowers in the florist industry. Whether it’s the gardeners or the decorators, carnations are always there in their list of flowers. The flower deserves this kind of appreciation as well due to its features. The very first feature is the availability of various colors, which gives a lot of options to its users. Every color has a different meaning and thus can be used on various types of occasions.

Secondly, carnations are of three types, large, spray and dwarf flowered carnations. The large-flowered carnation has only one flower per stem and can grow up to 20 inches. The other two categories have multiple flowers arising per stem and are comparatively shorter in height.

Lavender

These little packages of lavender bring fragrances as well as beauty along with them to the garden. Being available in more than 40 species, the flowers are evergreen perennials with gray, hairy leaves and purple or violet flowers. The flower is also available in pinkish white color. These are known as sweet herb garden favorites.

Lavender is used for a variety of purposes. These include making scented oil from its leaves, stems, and tiny glands present on flowers. This scented oil is used in the perfume industry, baths, and even in aromatherapy to relieve stress and anxiety and bring peace to the mind. It can also be used as a flavoring in cooking and as an ingredient in teas.

Aster

Aster or we can say, stars. Well, I am not making this star thing. It is genuinely known as stars as aster in greek means stars. The name suits as well as they shine just like stars. The flowers are closely packed, the petals are narrow, and available in many colors such as blue, purple, pink, and white. Their requirements for growth are simple, just give them some well-drained soil and sunlight. Aster is a great addition to the garden as they attract butterflies, bees, and other pollinators as well.

Snapdragon

The flowers are shaped like dragons and bloom from the bottom to the top. The flowers are arranged in tall stalks and are available in various colors such as orange, purple, red, white, and pink. When it comes to pollinators, the flowers are very choosy, resulting in only one species that can open its top-most leaves. Bumblebees are the only species that are strong enough for this.
