Hydrangeas

Hydrangeas are known for portraying a sense of good luck and fortune. They are beautiful, vibrant and durable florals that are just perfect to decorate any part of your wedding venue. Hydrangeas tend to capture all the summer vibes in their massive ball of petals. It was  named after the Greek physician of the gods Paeon,  who used these flowers to save Pluto. But that made the god of medicine Aesculapius,  jealous and he wanted to kill Paeon. So in order to save him, Pluto turned Paeon into a peony flower.

 

Marigold

Native to the Americas, marigolds were considered sacred by the Aztecs. They are very popular for their medicinal properties and religious importance in many cultures. Marigolds are used widely in all Hindu weddings and auspicious occasions. They were used by Lord Rama and Goddess Lakshmi along with Lord Vishnu and worshipped with the help of these flowers.

The bright yellow color of the marigold indicates the sun’s warmth, ambition, prosperity and good luck. They are also known for protecting you from evil spirits while other cultures compare them with a pot of gold.

Chrysanthemum

These were first cultivated in China and were widely used as a herb in the kitchen . The petals were often added in salads whereas  the leaves were used to brew trees. The name of these wonderful flowers were derived from the Greek word ‘chryos’ which means gold. Different colors of these flowers have different meanings such as the red ones connote passionate love , a white one is a symbol of loyalty but in general they all epitomize a great future, longevity and joy. They are also known to carry positive vibes that manifest good things for you.

 

Orchids

These exotic blooms were discovered by a Greek botanist Theophrastos,  who named them ‘orkhis’. Commonly known varieties include the   moth orchids that can be used in making floral jewellery , garlands,  bouquet and what not. They are associated with fertility and abundance . In Chinese culture, they optimize elegance, integrity and friendship.

 

Orange Blossoms

Beautiful but not so common  ,orange blossoms can be considered as the luckiest flowers on the list . In many cultures like Indian, Persian,  Chinese and European-  they symbolize fertility, purity and love as it is believed that the orange tree produces both the fruit and the flower. These became popular, when Queen Victoria wore  a crown at her wedding adorned with these beauties. Use them as centerpieces along with white roses, leaves and tiny oranges to complete the color palette.  Such arrangements can also be done on your wedding cake or the sweet table.
